Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, is home to Austria's youngest music university to date. The Gustav Mahler Private University of Music - formerly the Carinthian State Conservatory - has grown out of a 100-year-old tradition of top quality musical education and offers talented young people music studies at university level.
Sound scientific-artistic education
With students and teachers from about 17 nations and its location in the Alps-Adriatic region, inter-regionality and internationality are essential to the identity of the Gustav Mahler Private University of Music. The acquisition of the university status provides students and teachers with a significantly higher degree of mobility and exchange of experience across borders.
Four fields of study - 260 study places
The Gustav Mahler Private University of Music offers a Bachelor's and Master's degree in "Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy" and a Bachelors and Masters degree in "Musical Performance Art". A doctoral program is currently being developed. The Bachelors programmes are each comprised of 8 semesters and the Masters programmes of 4 semesters minimum study. In addition courses and further education in various musical professions are offered.
