Good News - A new office in Villach!
CIC has got a new spacious and cosy office, directly in the city centre of Villach. The opening ceremony took place last Thursday, February 2nd, and brought together a lot of CIC-members, friends and neighbours.
English, German, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Russian, French – different languages mixed together that evening at Hauptplatz, 7. It’s not surprising: CIC connects people from 65 nationalities! Since 2009, when the Carinthian International Club was created to strengthen links between international people, it has got 1100 members and organised more than 1000 events. Only now, has the CIC gained its own two-storied spacious office in Villach, which is located directly at the Hauptplatz.
"It’s a great achievement for us, to have this perfect office in Villach", the chairman of the CIC, Roland Graf mentioned in his welcome speech. "It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of: City Hall Villach, Infineon Technologies Austria AG and our other CIC members, and we are very thankful for their valuable contributions".
The opening ceremony began with music played by Tatyana Stancheva, and words of welcome by the vice-major of Villach, Dr. Petra Oberrauner, who "warmly welcomed this international flair as well as the new ideas that people bring to the city". CIC general manager Rosalia Kopeinig emphasized that "this office will become a space for diverse get-togethers, where settling in can be learned from those who are already settled here."
Guests were invited to try the delicious finger food from different countries, prepared by CIC-members. Everybody had the opportunity to write heartfelt wishes for CIC and leave an autograph with his or her name and country on the glass board. Indian ginger chai cooked by Amutha Tuma made this evening warm and a little bit spicy. Children enjoyed the eastern sweets and animal masks from the Fudukazi storytelling. On the first floor, two photographs by Christian Brandstätter from the series Colours of Carinthia and Katia Balsiamo‘s Arrazzi invite everyone to join and stay with the CIC.
The opening ceremony slowly transformed into a traditional CIC Networking Session, and nobody wanted to go home. Leona Rajakowitsch played the concert flute pipe and it was a great pleasure to meet with people who understand you, your challenges and your wishes. Now all friends of the CIC have a beautiful place to share their international and multi-cultural experiences. (Text: Vita Vitrenko. Fotos Stefano Lunardi)
