Dr. Karin Martin
Karin Martin gained her PhD in Linguistics at the University of Verona (Italy) in September 2013.
The main topics of her work in the field of clinical and applied linguistics were: foreign language learning; the difficulties of learning a new language; the linguistic and cognitive aspects of reading, learning to read, and developmental dyslexia.
She examined different manifestations of the disorder in different European languages, she explored the cognitive and neural aspects of reading and learning to read, and she conducted an experimental study to investigate the relationship between foreign language proficiency and working memory capacity in dyslexic children.
She has always been deeply interested in learning foreign languages and cultures, she finds the topic fascinating and she took her Master Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Verona. She has participated in numerous training courses on the subject of bilingualism and multilingualism, and she has been continuously attending new training seminars and conferences to be always updated.
