Full-Service Orientation Package
Our Orientation packages are tailor made and customized to the needs of the individual or family and usually include the following:
- multilingual support, taking into account the individuals’ mother tongue
- Pick-up service from hotel/apartment
- One-day orientation trip – getting a glimpse of Carinthia
- Welcome talk at the CIC offices in Villach or Klagenfurt and receipt of initial information about living and working in Carinthia
- Lunch with CIC consultants and CIC members
- Where appropriate: visits to the IDC (international nursery school), ISC (International School) or a visit to state nursery schools/kindergarten
Our Tours of the Region
Tour 1 - Lakes & Mountains
Villach is the second largest city in Carinthia with over 60,000 inhabitants. The town’s narrow streets, culinary delights and the deep green of the river Drau combine to inspire a southern Mediterranean way of life. The Italian border is within easy reach and the crystal-clear lakes around Villach are breathtaking. The nearby town of Velden on the beautiful Wörthersee lake is a captivating and exclusive resort and is also the location of the International School Carinthia. Together with our CIC consultants you will have lunch either in the city or on one of the lakes and finish the day with a short hike in the mountains, where you will meet locals and sample typical local cuisine.
Tour 2 – Klagenfurt & Surroundings
As the capital of Carinthia, Klagenfurt combines city chic with a history moulded from three cultures: Carinthian, Italian and Slovenian. A stroll through the old town reveals wide squares and colourful markets and culinary highlights blend the best from all three cultures. Together with CIC consultants you will enjoy lunch either at the market or in a restaurant sampling typical Carinthian cuisine. Afterwards a boat tour on the Wörthersee lake or walk/cycling through parts of the Karawanken mountain range will connect you with the pristine nature and locals.
Tour 3 – Alps-Adriatic Region
South of Villach, Austria, Slovenia and Italy meet at a triangular point 1,500 m above sea level called “Dreiländereck”. Just over the Italian border, 70 km from Klagenfurt and 30 km from Villach, lies the small town of Tarvisio. It has a lively shopping centre and market and the lifts to the Monte Lussari ski area leave from the centre. In Kranjska Gora, Slovenia mountain biking and walking offer pristine natural beauty while in the winter the ski resort is the best-known in the country.
